Handel and Purcell - Elder Hall

As part of the Elder Hall Friday Lunch Hour Series, Anthony Hunt presents a concert of Handel and Purcell Cantatas, featuring soprano Jessica Dean, tenor Robert MacFarlane, and bass Keith Hempton.
Directed from the harpsichord, with the University’s own Skyline String Quartet, the concert will feature Purcell’s unusual and brilliant cantata for soprano, tenor, bass and continuo, Saul and the Witch at Endor, plus the Handel cantatas “Look down, harmonious Saint” performed by Robert and “Crudel tiranno Amor” performed by Jessica.

The Carmelite Vespers - Adelaide Chamber Singers - Elder Hall
Friday, 3rd August, 8pm
The Adelaide Chamber Singers and guest conductor, Graham Abbott (Australia’s foremost Handel specialist) present a stunning concert of Handel’s Carmelite Vespers. These rarely performed works were composed by the 22 year-old Handel to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Carmel - the music is brilliant and virtuosic, and includes two major soprano solo works: the Saeviat Tellus and the Salve Regina, which will both be sung by Jessica Dean as a guest artist with the Chamber Singers. (Anthony is playing organ continuo in the orchestra for this one).

The Elixir of Love - Adelaide Festival Theatre

State Opera of South Australia present “L’elisir d’amore” - “The Elixir of Love” by Gaetano Donizetti.
The Elixir of Love is comic opera at its sparkling best. It’s flirtatious, it’s boisterous and it’s all heart, down to Nemorino’s melting aria ‘Una furtiva lagrima’ ; State Opera brings you Simon Phillips’ brilliant production - set on a sheep station in outback Australia!
Anthony is the repetiteur and continuo player for this production, and Jessica will be singing in the chorus. The excellent cast is led by New Zealand soprano Katherine Wiles as Adina, and Aldo di Toro as Nemorino. Also featuring Conal Coad, Jason Barry-Smith, and the wonderful Adelaide-born singer Samantha Rubenhold pops back from Germany to sing Gianetta. The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Benjamin Northey, a former winner of the Symphony Australia Young Conductor of the Year.

Brahms Piano Trio - Cynthia Poulton Hall, St Peter’s Cathedral

The Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia presents the winners recital for the 2006 Geoffrey Parsons Award, recognising outstanding accompanists.
The 2006 winner, Anthony Hunt, will perform with Imants Larsens (violin/viola) and Gemma Phillips (Cello) in a program of Brahms’ glorious first Piano Trio Opus 8 in B Major, and the famous and charming Arpeggione Sonata by Schubert.

The Impresario / A Boy called Wolfie - The Opera Studio

Patrick Lim and Anthony Hunt whisk you to the Casino Salzburg, Las Vegas, where showgirls Jessica Dean and Eleanor Blythman are duelling for the top spot - they both want their name in neon lights, and it is up to The Impresario to placate their demands before one of them walks!
Don’t miss this new and entertaining production of one of Mozart’s most charming miniature operas - presented at the State Opera Studio, 216 Marion Road Netley, the home of many of Patrick and Anthony’s finest productions.
In double bill with The Impresario is “A Boy called Wolfie” - a charming piece of children’s theatre by local composer Glyn Lehmann, which uses the music of Mozart to tell the story of the young Wolfgang, performed by a group of talented children from Adelaide schools.

“Bach-o-rama!” - Adelaide Town Hall

Anthony Hunt presents “Bach-o-rama!” - a celebration of the organ music of J. S. Bach, with a light-hearted tone for April the 1st! With works by Bach, works almost-by-Bach, and works most-definitely-stolen-from-Bach!
This concert is presented as part of the Adelaide Town Hall’s Organ Recitals Series. Admission is free. Presented by the Adelaide City Council, in association with the Organ Music Society of South Australia Inc.
Each year, the Council and the OMS present a brilliant program of visiting national and international artists, presenting first-class programs on the Town Hall’s wonderful pipe-organ. These free concerts are one of the hidden gems of Adelaide’s arts scene, and well worth making the effort to attend, on selected Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the year.

Robert MacFarlane - Pilgrim Church

It’s always a pleasure to perform with friends, so it’s a great pleasure to be doing a recital with young tenor Robert MacFarlane. Another concert in the Recitals Australia Lunch Hour Concert Series, Robert and Anthony will be performing songs by Faure, Beethoven, and more from Handel and Bellini.

Lunch Hour Recital - Pilgrim Church

Jessica and Anthony have been asked to step in and perform in the first Lunch Hour Series concerts of 2007 for Recitals Australia. Every Wednesday, two concerts are usually given in Pilgrim Church, at 12:10 and 1:10pm, by young musicians from around around Adelaide. While the series is promoted by the Australian Society for Keyboard Music, it is not just piano music on display here.
Having given many recitals for Recitals Australia before, Jessica and Anthony were happy to help out when learning that someone was unable to perform that day - it gives us the chance to try out a bit of new repertoire! To include arias by Mozart and Verdi, and songs by Respighi and Messiaen.

Organ Recital - St Peter’s Cathedral

As part of the St Peter’s Cathedral Series of concerts for 2007, Anthony will be presenting an Organ Recital in the Cathedral. Featuring music by French and English composers well suited to the magnificent instrument and acoustic, including works by Langlais to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth (Feb 1907), and Widor’s sizzling 6th Symphony. (Everybody knows the famous final Toccata from Widor’s 5th Symphony - well, the 6th is even better:)

The Merry Widow - Highlights (Co*Opera)

Co*Opera are presenting a performances of staged highlights from Franz Lehar’s bubbling operetta The Merry Widow, featuring Jill Chatterton, David Perry, Ernst Ens, Jessica Dean (as Valencienne), and Robert MacFarlane. Promises to be a fun night out!
